New
Track (Angmering)
The new 3A track is once again on a clay surface with a
top soil content so expect to feel at home with the surface
but … the new layout is a sight to behold with some
of the best flowing corners. These combined with the tricky
twisty sections and well thought out jumps bring together
the new evolution in off road tracks in the UK.
Previous
Track (Handcross)
The old 3A track was sited on old waste woodland ground,
the surface of which was a mix of 75% clay and 25% topsoil,
the surface was very hard indeed, drainage was dug before
track work commenced, the track was designed and laid and
then the jumps were built in after wards, the surface was
compacted with a ride-on roller.
The main crossover jump was a massive 4m wide at the launch
point and a had a 3m jump crossing point, we fabricated
a steel jump form to hold all the dirt inside and stop it
avalanching into the drive thru section, the jump was covered
with a wire mesh to stop any inadvertent collisions from
cars jumping while others were underneath.
Track
widths ranged from 2.5m to a huge 4.5m in places. The rest
of the track had a multitude of jumps and technical sections
too
Sadly unless you got to race on the old track you will never
know how great it really was, rest assured it was good !
But
fear not, the new 3A track at Angmering is shaping up to
be a whole new experience!
